Difficult qualifying for Lance in Monaco

In the face of a disrupted Qualifying session, Lance Stroll secured 18th on the grid for the 2022 Monaco E-Prix.

In the face of a disrupted Qualifying session, Lance Stroll secured 18th on the grid for the 2022 Monaco E-Prix.

He made a steady start to FP3 and joined the session on a set of Medium tyres to place 18th in the early stages before quickly improving to ninth.

A mistake in Turn One caused Lance to run off the circuit although the Canadian was able to rejoin and return to the pits.

Switching to the Soft tyres for the closing 20 minutes of the final practice session, Lance improved his lap time to a 1.14.639.

Later contact with the barriers in the swimming pool section forced him to pit for repairs to end his session early in 18th.

Lance’s team worked quickly to repair his car to secure Lance’s place in Q1.

In the first part of qualifying, Lance slotted into 10th position before a red flag halted the session with only a few minutes remaining.

An error at Turn 13, combined with heavy traffic, prevented Lance from improving on his 1.13.678 personal best to end the day in 18th overall.

First of all, I want to say thank you and well done to everyone in the garage for repairing my car after practice. It was a big push to get everything fixed in time for qualifying. Unfortunately, qualifying was frustrating: I went off the track at Turn 13 after taking too much of the kerb and my lap was over. It is a shame because I was four tenths up on my best time up to that point. The car has potential, so it is disappointing to qualify 18th.
