Utilising the final practice session to perfect car set-up ahead of the Sprint, Lance completed 43 laps of the Austrian circuit, running both the Medium and Soft Pirelli tyres over long stints to end FP2 in 11th position with a 1.09.525 lap time.
Lining up on the grid in 17th place, Lance opted for the Soft tyres ahead of the 24-lap Sprint.
By the end of the first lap, Lance had moved up to 15th position due to issue issues on the grid for Fernando Alonso and Zhou Guanyu.
Lance maintained his position, chasing down his teammate Sebastian Vettel and Alex Albon before a collision between the duo sent Vettel into the gravel, with Lance moving into 14th place.
Finishing a second behind Albon in 14th position, Lance then gained a position due to a five-second penalty for the Williams driver for forcing another car off the circuit, promoting Lance into 13th.
Due to a grid penalty for Valtteri Bottas, Lance will start the Austrian Grand Prix from 12th on the grid.

“We had a good Sprint today. On the Soft compound, we were able to make up some initial positions but then got stuck in a DRS train. It is difficult to make progress given how close the midfield is and the way the Softs dropped off towards the end. We will gain a position on the grid for tomorrow’s Grand Prix due to [Valtteri] Bottas’s penalty, so that is one place closer to the points. We are understanding more about this new package as well, especially after a strong practice session earlier today.”
