After qualifying in 12th, Lance started the race Medium tyres and made a strong start to gain two places by overtaking both Valtteri Bottas and team-mate Sebastian Vettel on lap one of the 57 lap race.
Lance defended diligently against a hard-charging Sergio Perez but ultimately lost the position to the Red Bull driver on lap two.
Lance began chasing down Yuki Tsunoda and caught and overtook the Alpha Tauri driver around the outside of Turn One on lap nine to claim ninth.
On lap 23, Lance pitted for a fresh set of Hard tyres to rejoin the race in 13th as he began to close in on the top 10.
With this successful strategy, Lance climbed up into a net sixth after undercutting Carlos Sainz Jr.
Punctures for Bottas and the Williams duo of George Russell and Nicholas Latifi caused a Virtual Safety car until the track was deemed clear.
When racing resumed, Lance maintained his position and successfully managed his tyres to take the chequered flag in sixth, collecting eight points for the team.
Lance Stroll – Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One™ Team Driver
“The car felt very good today and I am very happy with our performance. I made up a couple of places on lap one and over the first stint it was clear that we had pace to perform well. I overtook [Yuki] Tsunoda on the Mediums and then, after catching the guys ahead, undercut [Carlos] Sainz to move into sixth after stopping for the Hards. Overall, everything went perfectly for us today and scoring eight points at the end of this triple-header is a very satisfying reward for all our hard work.”
