Lance worked on gathering data in Free Practice One on both the Hard and Soft compound tyres. As this was the weekend’s sole Free Practice, it was pivotal to gather as much data as possible, with Lance setting 24 laps.
Setting a time which put him P7, Lance was through to the second Sprint Qualifying segment in the top ten. However, followed a deleted lap in SQ2, Lance was unable to progress to SQ3.
He qualified P13.
Lance began the Sprint from P13 on Mediums.
By Lap 2, he made up a place and was running in P13. However, a few laps later, Oscar Piastri overtook Lance.
Lance concluded the Sprint in P13.
In Qualifying for the 2024 United States Grand Prix, Lance successfully got through to Q2 as the track slowly began to ramp up as the session continued.
Lance qualified P14, with a time of 1:33.759
Beginning the United States Grand Prix on Hard tyres from P13, Lance held onto P13 during the opening stages of the race.
After a slight moment on Lap 6, Lance unfortunately fell back to P19. He then worked on overtaking the cars around him, including Alex Albon later that lap.
On Lap 27, Lance was up to P13 after drivers around him pitted. He also chose to make his pit stop at the end of Lap 27, opting for Medium tyres. He rejoined in P19 and spent the remainder of the race looking to gain places.
Lance concluded the race in P15.
His season will continue on 25-27 October with the Mexico City Grand Prix.
Lance Stroll, Aston Martin Aramco F1® driver, said:
We lacked pace compared to the other cars today. I had a bit of messy restart with a snap at Turn 10 but I think that, even without that snap, the result would have been the same. The car didn't have the performance for us to fight for positions. We've still got work ahead us to improve this car and we'll be pushing hard to make that happen
