Taking to the track on a set of Hard Pirelli tyres, Lance set an early benchmark time of 1.27.505 before quickly improving to 1.25.965 and into fourth place.
The Canadian completed 10 laps on the Hard compound before taking to the pits to change onto the Soft tyres.
Lance delivered his best time of the session on the Soft compound with a 1.23.688 to end FP1 in 15th place with 28 laps on the board.
In FP2, Lace began the session on a set of Medium compound tyres to set a 1.25.396 on his first flying lap and take him into P9.
Lance put in seven laps on the Mediums before returning to the pits to switch onto the Softs.
A red flag for Mick Schumacher halted track action at the midpoint of the session but, with 25 minutes on the clock, FP2 resumed.
Lance set his best lap time of the session with a 1.23.785 to end Friday’s running in 18th place with 27 laps.

“It was quite a challenging day trying to dial the car into the sweet spot around this low-downforce set-up. A busy job list and plenty of laps have given us a lot of data to go through tonight, so we will see where we can improve before qualifying. It seems quite a few drivers are facing grid penalties, so that could mix up the grid and open up more opportunities. Interestingly, the tow does not appear to be as strong with this generation of cars compared to last year, so that may change the dynamic of qualifying quite a bit.”
