Lance Stroll ended Friday practice in 13th position ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Lance wasted little time to join FP1 and, on the Medium tyres set, a 1.23.837 lap time for a place inside the top 10.

Continuing to improve on his previous performance, the Canadian put in a 1.22.456 lap before making the switch to the Soft tyres.

With 20 minutes remaining, Lance set his best time, a 1.21.920, to place 12th where he ended the session.

In FP2, Lance and the team switched to the Hard tyres for the opening portion of the second practice session.

Setting a 1.24.914 on his first run, Lance placed 12th before a crash for Valtteri Bottas brought out the Virtual Safety car to interrupt his second run.

Once the circuit was cleared, Lance improved significantly to deliver his best lap time of the day of a 1.21.249 and end the session in 13th.

“It has been a positive first day. We are making progress but we took it a little carefully today because we are understandably a little short on spares. Today feels like a step in the right direction, but we are still pushing for more. Over one lap, the car felt good, but I think there is more to come with the car balance. We will go away tonight and investigate the data and see where we can make improvements before qualifying tomorrow.”
