Lance Stroll ended his 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix qualifying session with an exit in Q1, meaning he will start the race in 19th.

Lance began the day with FP3 and amassed 14 laps, putting in his best lap time of 1.33.920 to finish 10th ahead of the first qualifying session of the season.

Lance began Q1 on the Soft Pirelli tyres, putting in a 1.33.309 lap time, and placed just outside the top 10.

As the track continued to develop, and the rest of the grid delivered their fastest laps, Lance put in his best time of a 1.33.032.

But he was unable to advance out of Q1 and will begin the Bahrain Grand Prix from 19th on the grid.

“We are disappointed with today’s result and it is not what we expected after a positive FP3. We made some changes to the car and perhaps they were in the wrong direction. In qualifying, we did not have the grip to extract the performance. We need to go over the data and understand it so we can learn from this. The early races are going to be a learning curve as we try to understand the car more. Tomorrow is a new day, so we will come back ready to try to make progress in the race.”

The Bahrain Grand Prix will get underway at 3pm GMT on Sunday, March 20.
